Born from frustration with spreadsheets
As finance professionals, we saw the same pattern every day: smart people wasting their time building and fixing Excel models. 80% data processing, 20% analysis. That had to change. Liquid was built to flip that ratio — so finance teams spend their time on insights and strategy, not copy-pasting.
Het idee achter Liquid komt voort uit de vorige onderneming van van onze oprichter, Thijs Olthof. In de verschillende fases van dat bedrijf, IIM, zag hij hoe lastig het was om grip te krijgen op cashflow, budgetten en consolidatie.
Bij IIM werd smart home hardware ontwikkeld, in China geproduceerd en in Europa verkocht. In de praktijk betekende dit een complexe puzzel voor het finance team. Om grip te krijgen op liquiditeit, voorraad en winstgevendheid ontstond een complex web van spreadsheets, manuele data-aansluiting en versiebeheer.
Hetzelfde patroon zagen we bij vele andere bedrijven: slimme mensen die hun tijd verdeden aan het bouwen en repareren van Excel-modellen. 80% dataverwerking, 20% analyse. Dat moest anders.
Liquid is gebouwd om die verhouding om te draaien, zodat finance teams hun tijd besteden aan inzicht en strategie, niet aan knip- en plakwerk.
